20ft Containers

The 20ft standard container is the industry standard for static storage. It fits in a typical parking space (20ft x 8ft) and offers roughly 1,170 cubic feet of volume. It is small enough for many driveways but large enough to hold the contents of a three-bedroom house.

Secure Construction and Compliance

Shipping containers are built to withstand the harshest conditions at sea, making them exceptionally secure for land-based storage.

• Corten Steel: We use units built from weathering steel (Corten), which resists corrosion. If the paint is chipped, the steel forms a protective oxide layer that prevents rust from penetrating.
• Security Options: Standard units come with heavy-duty locking bars. For added security, we recommend a lockbox. This steel cowl shrouds the padlock, protecting it from bolt croppers and angle grinders.
• CSC Plates: If you intend to export your container, it must have a valid CSC plate. We can supply CSC-plated containers for shipping purposes; please specify this when you order.

Delivery to Merton

We deliver containers using HIAB crane trucks. These vehicles have an onboard crane that lifts the container off the chassis and places it on the ground. To ensure a successful delivery, you must prepare your site correctly.

Site Access and Ground Conditions

The delivery truck requires ample space to manoeuvre. For a 20ft container, our driver typically needs 60 feet of straight-line clearance. For a 40ft container, this increases to roughly 110 feet.

HIAB trucks must operate on hard-standing ground, such as concrete or tarmac. We cannot drive over grass, soil, or mud, as the heavy vehicle may sink.
