Secure Construction and Compliance

• Corten Steel: We use units built from weathering steel (Corten), which resists corrosion. If the paint is chipped, the steel forms a protective oxide layer that prevents rust from penetrating.
• CSC Plates: If you intend to export your container, it must have a valid CSC (Convention for Safe Containers) plate. This acts like an MOT for the container. We can supply CSC-plated containers for shipping purposes; please specify this when you order.
• Security Options: Standard units come with heavy-duty locking bars. For added security, we recommend a lockbox. This steel cowl shrouds the padlock, protecting it from bolt croppers and angle grinders.

Logistics and HIAB Delivery

We deliver containers using HIAB crane trucks. These vehicles have an onboard crane that lifts the container off the side of the chassis and places it on the ground. To ensure a successful delivery, you must prepare your site correctly.

Site Access and Clearance

The delivery truck requires ample space to manoeuvre. For a 20ft container, our driver typically needs 60 feet of straight-line clearance. For a 40ft container, this increases to roughly 110 feet. The entrance to your site must be at least 10 feet wide to accommodate the vehicle and its mirrors.

You must also check for overhead hazards. The crane arm can extend up to 30 feet. Ensure there are no low-hanging tree branches or telephone cables in the lifting zone. High-voltage power lines present a serious danger; we cannot lift within close proximity to live cables.

Ground Conditions

HIAB trucks are heavy vehicles. They must remain on hard-standing ground, such as concrete, tarmac, or compacted gravel, at all times. We cannot drive over grass, soil, or mud. A heavy truck can quickly sink into soft ground, leading to expensive recovery bills and potential damage to your land. If your drop-off point is on grass, the truck must stay on the adjacent road or hard surface while lifting the container into place.

Level Support

Your container must sit on a level surface. If the ground is uneven, the container effectively twists (known as "racking"). This misalignment distorts the door frame, making the heavy doors difficult or impossible to open. We recommend placing the container on four corner supports, such as railway sleepers or paving slabs. This keeps the unit level and lifts the steel floor off the damp ground, extending its lifespan.
