Southwark is a borough of constant change. From the regeneration projects in Elephant and Castle to the industrial sites of Bermondsey and the residential streets of Dulwich, secure storage is essential. Shipping Containers of London supplies high-quality steel containers directly to your site.
We specialise in shipping container sales. Buying a container gives you a permanent, robust asset. You can modify it for a workspace, use it for long-term archive storage, or keep it as a secure lock-up for tools. We deliver to all SE postcodes.
We stock containers to suit every budget and application. Your choice depends on aesthetics and intended use.
We hold a large inventory of standard and specialist units:
A shipping container must withstand two things: the weather and intruders. We ensure our containers excel at both.
We build our containers from Corten steel. This "weathering steel" resists corrosion by forming a protective oxide layer when exposed to the elements. This prevents rust from penetrating the structure, ensuring your container lasts for decades with minimal maintenance.
Standard padlocks are vulnerable to bolt cutters. To prevent theft, we fit lock boxes to our containers. A lock box is a steel shroud welded to the cargo doors that covers the padlock and shackle. It blocks access to cutting tools and pry bars. Combined with heavy-duty hinges and rubber door seals, your goods remain safe and dry.
Delivering a multi-tonne steel box in London requires skill. We use HIAB trucks equipped with hydraulic cranes. The driver lifts the container from the truck bed and places it precisely on the ground, often over fences or low walls.
You must prepare the site before we arrive. The ground must be hard and level. Concrete, tarmac, or paving slabs are ideal. Soft grass or soil will cause the truck to sink and get stuck. You also need to check for overhead hazards. Power lines, telephone cables, and tree branches can block the crane arm. Read our delivery guidelines to prepare your site.
If you do not need a permanent solution, hiring is a flexible alternative. We offer container hire with a minimum term of just eight weeks. This is perfect for short-term projects or seasonal storage. Check our Southwark hire page for availability.
Temporary storage usually does not require permission. However, Southwark has strict rules in conservation areas and for permanent structures. If you plan to use the container as a workspace or keep it long-term, you should check with Southwark Council.
For a 20ft container, the truck needs about 60ft of straight-line space to park and unload. A 40ft unit requires roughly 100ft. The crane extends from the side, so we also need width clearance. See our transport page for diagrams.
Yes. We can send photos of the exact unit you are buying. This allows you to check the condition of used containers, including any dents or patches, before you commit.
Yes. We guarantee all our sale containers are wind and watertight. We inspect door seals and panels to ensure your goods stay dry.
Jeremy and the Team were very easy to work with. extremely quick to respond to our needs and the overall delivery was spot on. The container supplied was brand new and exceptionally clean, ready for our items to be stored safely and securely.
What a totally, refreshingly, brilliant company to deal with. They do what they say they will do at a time they say they will do it. Completely up front about everything: quality, cost, delivery etc. Nothing hidden. They accommodate the customer as far as humanly possible and their communications are spot on. I wish more companies were like this one.
The service from this company was excellent. We were working to tight deadlines and Jeremy was incredibly prompt in his communication, from the initial quote to the follow up email, to check everything had been received. He phoned the haulier and arranged a delivery around our schedule and Andy (the driver), kept us informed, so we knew exactly when he was arriving.
A professional company, that I would recommend highly.
