Vehicle Access Requirements

The delivery truck requires significant clearance. For a 20ft container, we typically use a rigid vehicle, approximately. 30ft long. For a 40ft container, an articulated vehicle up to 65ft (16.5m) is required.

• Width: The truck needs a minimum width of roughly 10ft (3m) to enter your site. However, when the crane stabiliser legs are extended for lifting, the total working width increases to approximately 18ft (5.5m).
• Overhead Clearance: The crane boom requires substantial vertical space to operate, often up to 30ft. You must ensure the lifting zone is clear of overhead power cables and tree branches. Cranes generally cannot operate within 20 metres of live power lines.

Ground Conditions and Siting

Our delivery vehicles weigh over 30 tonnes and must remain on hard standing at all times (concrete, tarmac, or hard-packed gravel). We cannot drive over grass, mud, or soft soil, as the vehicle will sink, risking damage to the terrain and significant recovery costs.

The container must be placed on a level surface. If the ground is uneven, the container can “rack” (twist), distorting the door frame and jamming the doors. We recommend placing the container on four corner supports, such as paving slabs, concrete blocks, or railway sleepers, to ensure it sits level and allows airflow underneath to prevent damp.
