Shipping Containers of London offers high-quality shipping containers for hire and sale in the London Borough of Hackney. We provide robust, weather-resistant storage solutions for local businesses, construction projects, and private residents. Whether you need temporary space for a pop-up event in Shoreditch or tool storage in Stoke Newington, we have the right container for you.
We offer flexible container hire for short-term projects and long-term storage. Hiring is a cost-effective way to gain secure, dry space without the commitment of purchasing. Our fleet includes clean, watertight units ready for immediate delivery.
Rental Terms: We require a minimum hire period of 8 weeks. You pay a collection deposit at the start of the contract, which covers the transport cost to remove the container when you finish. This ensures a transparent process with no hidden fees at off-hire.
Hackney’s mix of dense urban streets and industrial pockets means choosing the correct container size is vital for successful delivery.
The 20ft container is our most popular rental unit. It fits within a standard parking space length (20ft x 8ft) and provides approximately 1,170 cubic feet of storage. It is ideal for storing furniture, tools, or retail stock.
The 40ft container offers double the volume. It is standard for large-scale storage and palletised goods. Delivery requires significant space, as the truck needs a straight run of approximately 100ft to unload. This size is best suited for larger sites with good access.
We build our containers to keep thieves and the weather out. They are designed to withstand the rigours of international shipping, making them perfect for secure static storage.
We deliver using Hiab trucks equipped with an onboard crane. The driver lifts the container from the vehicle and places it on your prepared ground. We can lift over fences or low walls if the truck can park parallel to the drop zone.
Urban Access Challenges: Hackney has many Red Routes, narrow streets, and Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs). The delivery truck is approximately 9ft wide and requires substantial room to manoeuvre. We cannot offload onto public roads or pavements without a prior council suspension and permit.
Ground Conditions: The truck weighs over 15 tonnes. The ground must be hard standing (concrete, tarmac, or compacted hardcore). We cannot drive on grass or soft soil as the vehicle will sink.
Review our Delivery Guidelines to check if your site is ready.
Shipping containers are portable, temporary structures. In many cases, you do not need planning permission if the container is on private land. However, Hackney Council has strict rules for conservation areas and listed building vicinities. We recommend checking with the Hackney Planning Department for local guidance.
If you need permanent storage, buying a container is often more cost-effective. We sell new (one-trip) and used containers in Hackney. Ownership allows you to modify the unit, paint it, or convert it for other uses. View our Sales in Hackney options.
We typically deliver within 3 to 5 working days from cleared payment. We have depots serving East London, so we can sometimes arrange faster delivery depending on truck availability. Call us to check the schedule.
Our containers are wind and watertight. However, condensation can form if you store damp goods or if the temperature fluctuates. We recommend using moisture traps (Absorpoles) or lining the container if you store sensitive items like fabrics or paper.
Yes, provided there is enough space for the Hiab truck. The truck needs to be about 30-60ft long and 9ft wide. We cannot block the road without a permit. You must ensure there are no overhead cables or tree branches obstructing the crane arm.
Yes. Someone must be present to sign for the delivery and direct the driver to the exact spot. If the driver cannot access the site, you may be charged for a failed delivery.
Our hire fleet consists of "Wind and Watertight" containers. They are structurally sound and secure. They may have cosmetic dents or surface rust consistent with their use, but they will keep your goods dry and safe.
Jeremy and the Team were very easy to work with. extremely quick to respond to our needs and the overall delivery was spot on. The container supplied was brand new and exceptionally clean, ready for our items to be stored safely and securely.
What a totally, refreshingly, brilliant company to deal with. They do what they say they will do at a time they say they will do it. Completely up front about everything: quality, cost, delivery etc. Nothing hidden. They accommodate the customer as far as humanly possible and their communications are spot on. I wish more companies were like this one.
The service from this company was excellent. We were working to tight deadlines and Jeremy was incredibly prompt in his communication, from the initial quote to the follow up email, to check everything had been received. He phoned the haulier and arranged a delivery around our schedule and Andy (the driver), kept us informed, so we knew exactly when he was arriving.
A professional company, that I would recommend highly.
